Friday Flower Pick : A Dazzle of Sunflowers

I'm not sure what a group of sunflowers is called, but I think the only proper name is "a dazzle". A dazzle of sunflowers!! Case in point, these spectacularly sunny specimens I captured, dancing on the same late afternoon breeze I coasted on...all the way down to the shore!!

...Look up, look down, summer sightings are all around!!

Me Made May Wrap Up

I had so much fun playing at Me Made May 2017, over on Instagram (@mademoisellemermaid)!!

Next year I'll aim for perfection, but I had a splendid time composing at least 28 mostly "me made" ensembles (a few favorite ready-to-wear garments were sprinkled in the mix;).

Connecting with other makers was definitely the draw and ultimate delight, but I gained a few surprising insights too!! 
Like, laundry is so much more fun when there are some different friends in the bag!!...
...and I don't have zipper in my entire wardrobe; it's all tie-on, gathered, and elastic garments for me!!

I definitely have a game plan now for the next garments I'd like to stitch up for my personal wardrobe, and I'm keeping up with rediscovering some over-looked, yet lovely, items hiding out in my closet!!

Friday Flower Pick : Jacarandas in Bloom

I think I say it often enough...but here is yet another of the most wonderful times of the year: It's jacaranda flowering season!!

Seemingly overnight, fairies sprinkled the Santa Monica streets with their magic dust and these gorgeous, purple blooms filled the skies!! 

...Now ordinary days are anything but, when the way is lined by such a spring spectacle!!

Friday Flower Pick : Cinco de Mayo Rose

Happy Cinco de Mayo from the flower lined streets of a Santa Monica neighborhood in full bloom!! Despite the heavy fog and clouds, I'm out strolling in search of a Friday Flower Pick to fit the red, white, 'n green theme of this festive day=)!!

A gorgeously striped red and white rose, set against a background of deep green foliage, is a perfect specimen to mark the day!!... And I found this beauty right outside a paint store, no less... (I thought it was very fitting, considering the way the petals look splattered with paint!!) 

From now on, I think I'll call this little stretch of the sidewalk "Artist's Way"!!

Friday Flower Pick : Palisades Pink

Admiring the abundant roses, in every glorious shade of pretty 'n pink, I've spent a lot of time in Pacific Palisades this week!!...In fact, if you've seen a purple 3.75 mm crochet hook on Montana Ave, between the ocean and 14th...it's mine!! (Bounced out of my bike basket somewhere along the way:-)

...Inspired by the blossoms' beautiful blushing colors, I decided to take my pink cotton gauze caftans for a spin and celebrate the season with maximum mermaid style!!
