Friday Flower Pick : White Way of Delight

One of my favorite Santa Monica streets, Palisades Avenue, boasts many botanical charms, any time of the year!!

...But late August in particular, is host to some truly magical moments, when it's sidewalks are simply aglow with romantic, white blooming roses. A perfect spotlight of golden morning sun, bright green orbs of bokeh filtering through the foliage, and pretty pink varieties of roses...keep them in the most pleasant of company!!

Taking a cue from my favorite literary heroine, Anne of Green Gables...the only fitting name for this gorgeous promenade is "White Way of Delight".

Friday Flower Pick : Impressionistic Garden

This is just the sort of scene I would have expected an impressionist painter to have seen, when she gazed out onto her late August garden. 

...A softly glowing ethereal view, bathed in washes of hazy sunshine and petal pinks, begging to be interpreted with skillfull brush strokes on canvas. 

I did my best impressionistic interpretation with my camera.

This native to Brazil specimen spends summer arrayed in bunches of  exquisite yellow-orange blossoms...
...flowers that conjure up images of olympic gold, golden days of summer, and radiant sunshine galore.

Friday Flower Pick : Brown-eyed Susans

Golden summer days call for enlivening morning walks down a favorite lane.
Even the busiest city block boasts a most bewitching array of butterflies, birds, and blooms in early August!!

Particularly pretty and suited to the season, are the wildflower-like specimens with bohemian sensibilities, that seem to tumble about in carefree clusters wherever they fancy.
One such glowing, roadside display of brown-eyed Susans, with their sunshine yellow petals and free spirits, was just the sort of thing to brighten my world and make me dawdle a little longer.

Mermaid Monday : Unicorns and Rainbows

I had a lot of fun this past weekend, getting my home refreshed with a few rainbow and unicorn themed DIY projects!! 

Crocheting rainbow granny squares, in sensational neon colors, was just the kind of creative project I needed on a very hot summer's afternoon. These versatile motifs are great to make sitting at the beach under an equally colorful umbrella, in the shade of a favorite tree at the park, or even at home in front of a fan- with something lovely to sip on!!

A deep navy blue border ups the sophistication of my color palette I think, and I can't wait to keep plugging along at my first ever crochet blanket!!

For a quicker, instant gratification project, I'm enjoying stashbusting with a few colorful and flowery crochet garlands. They look gorgeous and gypsy-like hanging in a window or around a mirror. This one's from my all-time favorite crochet book, Cute & Easy Crochet with Flowers by Nikki Trench.

...Or how about some glitter painting during a crochet break?! No photo frame in my home is safe from my unicorn-inspired palette of violet, aqua, lavender, and glitter galore!!
