Friday Flower Pick : Macro Orchids

Since today's Friday Flower Pick falls on National Pink Day, I'm appropriately taking a very close up look at one my favorite colors!! 

I recently welcomed this delightfully hot pink orchid plant into my apartment garden, and its tiny blooms are just the thing to try out my new macro extension tubes on. A refreshing spritz of water, and the lovely, late morning sunshine pouring in through my window...and we're ready to glow=)!!

Mermaid Monday : Cover Up in Lavandula

Here's a little known fact about me : my favorite word in the world is lavandula. 
(Well, it's actually pretty much tied for first with calendula)...

But it seems that a lovely, soft shade of lavender is the beach cover up color of the day!! Perfect for a quiet, early morning in the sand, contemplating the virtues of a June gloom (and how it really is the nicest weather to shoot in!!)...while watching a dozen dolphins splash by. They don't mind the gloom, and neither do I!!

I think the next new item up will be a striking little red number...and I'm betting it will look just right against the grey skies!!

Friday Flower Pick : Palisades Point of View

Today's Friday Flower Pick isn't so much a specimen, as it is a specific special place!!
...Certainly, it's a place blessed with an abundance of all sorts of summer blooms...from hot pink roses, to deliciously fragrant magnolias, to multi-colored hydrangeas...and it would be hard to pick just one.

So I pick them all=)

Not literally of course...just in my mind's and camera's eye, I soak them in, bathed in the surreal light of a California summer glow.

Mermaid Monday : Ruffle Beach Cover Up

A lovely, new beach cover up dress came in with the tide today!!

...And if I've said it before, J'adore ruffles galore...then this elegant, easy-to-wear garment, is pure mermaid frills for coastal thrills!!

It’s a lovely, loose, and flowing kaftan dress with a scoop neck in front, a glamorously alluring low back, and a floaty handkerchief hem, edged with ruffles.
...Cut on the bias for maximum allure!!

Friday Flower Pick : A Dazzle of Sunflowers

I'm not sure what a group of sunflowers is called, but I think the only proper name is "a dazzle". A dazzle of sunflowers!! Case in point, these spectacularly sunny specimens I captured, dancing on the same late afternoon breeze I coasted on...all the way down to the shore!!

...Look up, look down, summer sightings are all around!!

Me Made May Wrap Up

I had so much fun playing at Me Made May 2017, over on Instagram (@mademoisellemermaid)!!

Next year I'll aim for perfection, but I had a splendid time composing at least 28 mostly "me made" ensembles (a few favorite ready-to-wear garments were sprinkled in the mix;).

Connecting with other makers was definitely the draw and ultimate delight, but I gained a few surprising insights too!! 
Like, laundry is so much more fun when there are some different friends in the bag!!...
...and I don't have zipper in my entire wardrobe; it's all tie-on, gathered, and elastic garments for me!!

I definitely have a game plan now for the next garments I'd like to stitch up for my personal wardrobe, and I'm keeping up with rediscovering some over-looked, yet lovely, items hiding out in my closet!!
